It's All About the Volunteers!

The Children's Water Festival is organized by dedicated community volunteers and representatives from dozens of organizations from across St. Thomas and Elgin County and will take place from Tuesday, May 7th to Friday, May 10th, 2024.

Each year, we need many volunteers to help us ensure a successful Festival! This year, the Festival needs approximately 150 volunteers each day during the event for tasks such as: 

  • Festival set up or take down

  • Interpreting activity stations* (scripts provided)

  • Parking vehicles and buses

  • Greeting students upon arrival

  • Supervising students during lunch hour

  • Grounds and facilities maintenance

  • Assisting with bus departure

*Please note that a minimum of one day’s commitment (8:00 am to 2:30 pm) is required for all activity station volunteers.

Volunteers should be at least 16 years of age.

What to Expect as a Volunteer

When you volunteer at the Festival, you will receive:

  • Free lunch on the day(s) you volunteer

The Festival is outdoors, rain or shine. Most volunteers will be on their feet, so be prepared with comfortable footwear and clothing that can get dirty or wet.

Set-Up and Take-Down Volunteers

We are looking for volunteers to assist in Festival set-up and take-down on:

  • Set-Up: Monday, May 6th

  • Take-Down: Friday, May 10th

The Festival Coordinator will contact you prior to the Festival to confirm dates, times, tasks, and to provide you with an information manual.

The Organizing Committee would be pleased to accept any donation in the form of money, applicable product or in-kind service, such as food, or equipment use. If you would like more information, a presentation can be provided to your group by contacting the Festival Coordinator, Betsy McClure.
